PRESIDENT RAJAPAKSA TELLS ALL PARTY COMMITTEE IN COLOMBO TO LOOK NOT FOR DIFFERENCES BUT FOR SIMILARITIES AMONG THEM TO COME TO A MEANINGFUL RESOLUTION FOR THE COUNTRY

President Rajapaksa addressing an all party committee representing all political parties of the governing coalition and the opposition said this is not a time to look for differences among them but to look for similarities.
The President said , “To bring solace to the broken hearts of the people of Sri Lanka is a responsibility not left for one party or a government but for all.”
Addressing representatives of all political parties, the President said at the Presidential Secretariat, in Colombo on Thursday , that by a “humanitarian operation”the armed services were able to rescue innocent people who had lost all their rights to terrorism. Now it is time to heal the hearts of the people by another humanitarian mission by putting behind antagonism , malice and hatred of the past and carrying forward goodwill of the heart. He said no development is possible without bringing solace to the broken hearts and introducing trust among one another.
A state owned broadcaster said , the following Tamil representatives expressed their hopes thus at the conference: “Minister Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan expressed his happiness about the participation. He said that this internal issue should be discussed with the President. Minister Douglas Devananda said that the proposals were accepted in good faith and expressed confidence that this would provide benefits to the Tamil people. TNA Parliamentarian Shivanathan Kishore said that such discussions should be continued. They also tabled their proposals. TULF leader V. Anandasangaree said it is for the first time that all party leaders and representatives met the President. He expressed hope that this trend would continue”
